A broad base of goods made in Oman
Oman's non-oil exports, excluding re-exports, reached OMR 6,698 million in 2025. The year was steady from quarter to quarter: OMR 1,621 million in the first quarter, OMR 1,643 million in the second, OMR 1,731 million in the third and OMR 1,703 million in the fourth. Re-exports added a further OMR 2,056 million.
Growth in 2026
From January to July 2026, non-oil exports reached OMR 4,309 million, up 10.7% on the OMR 3,893 million of the same months of 2025. Base metals and their articles rose 26.7% to OMR 994 million, chemical products rose 26.3% to OMR 627 million, and plastics and rubber rose 6.4% to OMR 600 million. Exports of precious stones and metals rose to OMR 465 million, from OMR 21 million a year earlier; on the Centre's own calculation, this one group accounts for all of the year-to-date gain, and such exports can vary widely from year to year. Re-exports rose 13.6% to OMR 1,140 million.
Metals, chemicals and plastics
Metals, chemicals and plastics together made up more than half of non-oil exports from January to July 2026, on the Centre's own calculation.
What it means
Oman's non-oil exports grew into 2026 across metals, chemicals and plastics. On the Centre's estimates, the combined weight on OMR 7,400 million or more in 2027 is 55%, which would put non-oil exports about a tenth or more above their 2025 level.
Scenarios: Oman's non-oil exports in 2027
These probabilities are the Centre's analytical estimates, reasoned from the figures above. Because the bands are ordered, the forecast is scored with both the multi-category Brier score and the ranked probability score.
The variable is the value of Oman's non-oil merchandise exports, excluding re-exports, for calendar year 2027, in OMR million, as first published by the national statistics centre in its first official release giving the full-year 2027 figure (the monthly bulletin with data to December, or the fourth-quarter release, whichever comes first), expected in early 2028. Only that first official full-year figure counts; later revisions are ignored. The figure is rounded half up to a whole OMR million, once, before it is placed in a band, so OMR 7,399.5 million counts as OMR 7,400 million. A figure given in OMR billion is converted to OMR million, but the most precise official figure is used. A figure stated as "more than", "over", "about", "around", "nearly" or "almost" a number counts as that number. A figure reported as a range counts at its midpoint. If the measure is rebased or goods are reclassified between oil and non-oil, or between national exports and re-exports, before the 2027 figure appears, the figure published for 2027 on the official basis in use at that time is used. The bands cover every possible value, and each edge falls in the higher band: exactly OMR 6,800 million falls in band 2, exactly OMR 7,400 million in band 3, exactly OMR 8,000 million in band 4 and exactly OMR 8,600 million in band 5. If no official full-year 2027 figure is published by 31 December 2028, the forecast is withdrawn.
On the Centre's own calculation, the 2025 level of OMR 6,698 million, grown in 2026 at the January-to-July pace of 10.7%, comes to about OMR 7,415 million.
Moderation: under OMR 6,800 million
On the Centre's own calculation, this means a 2027 level less than about 1.5% above 2025, close to or below the 2025 level. Because precious stones and metals account for all of the 2026 year-to-date gain, a year in which they settle back to earlier levels could leave the total near 2025, so the band keeps real weight.
Moderate growth: OMR 6,800 million to under OMR 7,400 million
This is the most likely band, by a small margin. On the Centre's own calculation, it covers growth of about 1.5% to 10.5% on 2025 over two years. It would follow if exports of precious stones and metals eased from their 2026 level while base metals, chemicals and plastics kept growing. Because the year-to-date gain rests on that one group, this band gets the highest weight, just above the band that follows the 2026 pace.
Steady growth: OMR 7,400 million to under OMR 8,000 million
This is the band that follows the 2026 pace from the latest actual. On the Centre's own calculation, the latest full-year actual, OMR 6,698 million in 2025, grown at the January-to-July 2026 pace gives about OMR 7,415 million for 2026, and holding that level or growing by up to just under 8% in 2027 stays in this band. It gets a weight just below band 2, because the 2026 pace depends on one group of goods.
Strong growth: OMR 8,000 million to under OMR 8,600 million
On the Centre's own calculation, this needs growth of about 19% to 28% on 2025 over two years, close to the 2026 year-to-date pace in both years. Continued gains in base metals and chemicals would support it, so the weight is moderate.
Very strong growth: OMR 8,600 million or more
On the Centre's own calculation, this needs growth of more than about 28% on 2025 over two years, faster than the 2026 year-to-date pace in both years. The weight is lower.
What to watch
- Monthly statistical bulletins: non-oil exports for each month through 2026 and 2027.
- Precious stones and metals: whether the 2026 rise holds.
- Base metals and chemicals: the fastest-growing groups in 2026.
- Re-exports: the other part of non-oil exports, which the measure excludes.
